Like most other things in nature, this activity is also rooted in an instinctive need: the need to reproduce. A peacock unfurls its bright feathers with the sole purpose of attracting a female into mating with it. The larger the expanse of the feathers and the brighter the colours, the greater the potency of the peacock and the greater its promise of offering healthy sperms. That's about it!
