@The Lion and Albert / Albert Comes Back - Stanley Holloway
There is a bit of silence at start. Watch at full screen to read along. Stanley Augustus Holloway, OBE (b.1 Oct. 1890 --d. 30 Jan. 1982) was an English stage and film actor, comedian, singer, poet and monologist. He was famous for his comic and character roles on stage and screen, especially that of Alfred P. Doolittle in My Fair Lady. He was also renowned for his comic monologues and songs, which he performed and recorded throughout most of his 70-year career. The Lion and Abert was written by Marriott Edgar and first performed by Holloway in 1931. The character Albert was so popular in the 1930s he became part of British folklore. The flip-side Albert Comes Back has a collection of British seaside postcards, the kind you would find at Blackpool.
