@Landslides: Where & When, Fast or Slow, Geo322 2018-10-29
The 17th lecture (counting the midterm during the previous class meeting as the 16th) for GEO 322 Surface Processes at Oregon State University on Oct. 29, 2018 continues the discussion of stability and failure of shallow mobile regolith layers on infinite slopes. Conditions leading to acceleration of failures to become fast debris flows vs. deceleration to become slow earth flows are discussed. Finally, high pore pressures are explained in terms of upslope contributing area and rainfall intensity are discussed.
