geomorphdog's video: Magnavox AMP 185 AA Resto Mod

@Magnavox AMP 185 AA Resto/Mod
I pulled the Magnavox AMP 185 AA from a console that I found on CL. I sought advice on Audiokarma.org; I was advised (by @gadget73) to consult the designs of David Gillespie, another Audiokarma member, who is rather famous for his resto/mods of Magnavox console tube amps. Mine is essentially a custom design that closely follows his mods of the Magnavox 8800. He posted two different drafts of his mods. My design is closer to his second draft on the AF and inverter stages (each channel using one double-triode, a 12AX7), and closer to his first draft on the output stage. His mods did not include a pre-amp. The AMP 185 has an additional double-triode (a 7025, similar to a 12AX7), which originally served as a pre-amp for the relatively high-level output of the phonograph with a ceramic cartridge. In my design, I used this tube to make an inverting common-cathode amplifier with negative feedback, where the ratio of the feedback and input resistance (roughly) determines the gain. Anyway, enough technical stuff. How does it sound? It sounds good. It IS good.
