Mohammed Azaiza, Gisha's field coordinator, visited an emergency medical camp next to the border during last week's events to describe today's painful reality for Gaza's residents. Transcription of the video: "We are here today, Friday the 6th of April 2018. […] In the background, the advanced medical point for the Palestinian Red Crescent society, to help the Gazans who were injured in the demonstrations [...] Gaza is under Israeli blockade since 2007. The border is mainly closed, and the Israelis have also complicated the criteria for people want (need) to cross the Israeli border. This makes life in Gaza very difficult. We feel that the main reason for what is happening is the blockade. The people don’t feel like they can survive this type of situation […] In 2006 we experienced a cutting of electricity, and last year, we only saw electricity for four hours (a day). Look at the aquifer water, 97% of the water is not healthy, and now millions of millions of sewage is going to the sea. Around 70% of Gaza's beach is unhealthy for swimming. The children of Gaza do not see any hope. This is the result and achievement of the Gaza blockade. Here, we see people and children who are killed. People cannot find a way to live and survive in Gaza. Thank you".
