Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji's dhaal (shield). Guru Sahib sent a hukamnama to the sangat of Kabul to produce/bring shastar(weapons) of good quality to him. The Sikhs of Kabul travelled to Russia where there was hunting of Whales. The shield was formed using the skin from the tail of a whale. Guru Ji was presented this shield and would wear it on his body/tied to the back. This is the shield Guru Ji had on them when they left Gwalior Fort with the 52 Rajas (Bandi Chhorr). During the journey there was an encounter with a Lion in Machkund. Jahangir was on his elephant and Guru Sahib came between the lion and Jahangir and killed the lion in one motion. This was the shield Guru Ji used to protect himself. The claw marks are still visible on the shield. There was also a dent which was made and was unable to be removed and is still visible. In the Jang (war) of Kartarpur this was the shield which Guru Ji struck Painde Khan which killed him. Guru Sahib then used this same shield to cover Painde Khan from the sun as he was dying. Guru Sahib reached Kiratpur where he knew he would be leaving his body (Joti Jot), Guru Sahib then presented this shield to Roop Chand (Bhai Roopa Ji) for the seva Roop Chand had done. Guru Ji told him that whoever had darshan (sight) of this shield would be the same as having darshan of Guru Jis Human Body,
