Here at the Environment Square, you can see a detailed reconstruction of the Hōheikan made out of snow, and, what is more, the world's first Video Projection Mapping onto a large snow sculpture after dark, as a part of the activities conducted under the 'Creative City Sapporo' initiative whose aim is to create the foundation for continuous economic development through the power of art and culture. Video Projection Mapping, a type of media arts is a new projection technique that can turn almost any surface into a dynamic video display often enhanced by sound and music. Don't miss this spectacular event. 環境ひろばでは、貴重な遺構であり、現在観ることの出来ない「豊平館」を大雪像でリアルに再現。さらに夜間には、文化芸術の創造性でまちの活力と経済活性化につなげていく「創造都市さっぽろ」の取組みの一環として、大雪像へのプロジェクションマッピングを世界で初めて行います。プロジェクションマッピングはデジタル技術と芸術を融合した先進的なアート表現（メディアアーツ）の一つで、音楽と連動して光のアート映像を大雪像に投射しながら、さっぽろ雪まつりの新たな魅力を世界に発信します。
