Exit the lift, and walk across the passage to another small lift - (the one with the concertina mesh door). Go down two more floors to reach the mezzanine boiler room area. Put on the work overalls at the meshed-off work room and then go down an old cast iron spiral stair to the boiler room floor 20 feet lower down. Then the boss tells you to go under the steel mesh floor - another 8 feet - to clean up all the grease/oil and gunk. This is where the fun begins... Looking back, I think he did this to test me if I would stay on... After one year's work, we completely dismantled and rebuilt two and a half of those massive boilers (a set of eight) that supplied heat to all public buildings nearby.
