« i was a television version of a person with a broken heart... » listen, this is my 2nd favorite song by the national and editing these two little fireballs of angst and softness to it is a huge statement from me. this song is filled with such a wide range of emotions, both lyrically and musically. you can clearly feel the pain of separation and the bliss of being reunited with the person you love cutting deep through your chest. in a way, this song is an old soul: it belongs to real life fairytales that almost feel like a b&w movie and so do mike and eleven. their beauty and spirit is still the same as it was in s1, just intensified x193873627 by 353 days of being physically apart but never giving up on each other. it's a bond that goes beyond age, time and space and i've been ruined forever ha ha ha. (anyway i have in store a gen video and an eleven character study but my life is crazy and my laptop is a jerk so idk when and if i will actually find the time to work on those - hopefully before the end of the year - damn this show inspires me just SO much) shout out to all the beautiful people i got the chance to discuss ST with over the past two weeks, especially to my GLORIOUS mileven trash squad (there, I've completed the holy trinity - still not over your masterpieces tbh) and to laura, for being the best, always ♥
