Pied Kingfisher (Ceryle rudis) is a remarkable bird species renowned for its distinctive appearance, remarkable hunting skills, and widespread distribution across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The Pied Kingfisher is easily identifiable by its contrasting black and white plumage. Its upperparts are predominantly black, while the underparts, including the breast and belly, are white. The wings are also black with white spotting, and there's a conspicuous white band across the breast. In flight, the Pied Kingfisher displays a distinctive hovering behavior, often accompanied by rapid wing beats and a characteristic loud rattling call. The exact life span of Pied Kingfishers in the wild is not precisely known, but they are believed to have a life expectancy of around 10 to 15 years. However, factors such as predation, habitat loss, and human disturbance can influence their longevity.
