One of those important changes was the revision of damage models for all aircraft including wings and engines. Wings are much harder to break with the new damage model which means aircraft are now shot down more realistically. It is even more important now to aim at the aircraft's center of mass in the hopes of hitting an important component such as the engine or the pilot. Anyway, some time ago, I created a video of the IL-2 damage model, so I thought this would be a good time to make another one to see what has changed. I tested a series of fighter aircraft against various types of munitions to see what would cause the wings to break. What I found was that the P-51 damage model seems to be too resistant to damage, and the 23mm and 37mm AP rounds are the most under powered rounds out of the bunch.
