Now, I think enough time has passed that I can try flying a full campaign with this marvelous aircraft. Although the F-14 gained notoriety and popularity in the 80s with the movie Top Gun, its design dates back to 1970 during the Vietnam War. As the successor to the F-4 Phantom, the F-14 is designed with one thing in mind: air superiority. Although it is certainly capable of bombing missions and CAS, its primary duty is defeating enemy fighters and bombers at long range. Hence, it's endowed with the capability of firing the AIM-54 Phoenix, which is the longest air-to-air missile that can be fired by a player in DCS.
