@Plastics2chemicals (P2C): recycling end-of-life plastics into base chemicals for the industry
(subtitled) Indaver has been looking for a solution for hard-to-recycle plastic streams for a long time. Together with Ghent University, an innovative process on a laboratory scale is ready: plastics2chemicals or P2C. Plastics are broken down into smaller hydrocarbon chains. This produces a pure end product (naphtha, wax and styrene monomere) for the chemical industry. Indaver now wants to improve this solution on an industrial scale. For this, in 2021 a testing facility is built at its site in Antwerp. In this facility, we will test the depolymerisation process in practice. Indaver is planning to eventually recycle 1 million tonnes of plastics. A true contribution to the circular economy.
