indiavideo's video: Barnacle Geese

@Barnacle Geese
Despite the slightly unusual and even misleading English language name for this species of goose, the barnacle goose is easily distinguishable by its prominent black and white plumage incl. a black head, neck, upper body and tail while its belly and face are whitish with gray-shaded streaks. Feeding on vegetation, barnacle geese are fairly large geese and can weigh over 2 kilos and have a wingspan of up to 1½ meters. Barnacle geese breed (usually 4-5 eggs incubated for 25 days) in the very northern regions of the world, incl. Greenland, Svalbard (Norway), Novaya Zemlya (Russia) and more recently in the coastal and some inland areas of the Baltic Sea. Wintering locations (usually from Oct till May) include the British Isles and the Netherlands. Binomial name: Branta leucopsis
