The boy set up a new kingdom, a kingdom of peace and equality, in which all were equal, and where dragons and humans worked together for the common good. -- the dragon Wodensfang on Hiccup the First, "How to Break a Dragon's Heart" by Cressida Cowell ❝ dedication A gift to a beautiful, mature, thoughtful Christian friend who loves the book series dearly. http://justoffravenpoint.tumblr.com/ Thank you for your friendship, your joy, and your hope. ❝ about the vid (I actually edited this vid earlier, but only am posting it now...) I framed this like my gift to WhispertheWolf, with an inspiring score, thematic VOs and gentle editing. I never used the book series' quotes in a video before, but I adore the book series. They can be even more deep and moral than the films, so I was thrilled to be able to use quotes directly from David Tennant's narration of the books. So while editing this, I really felt like it should try to capture the meaning inherent in this HTTYD franchise -- the bond between boy and dragon, the dream of coexistence, the love, and Hiccup's destiny as a chief and a uniter. I know the first VO is actually Wodensfang's dream, but in translation it fits Hiccup and, from the books, Hiccup Haddock the First's story in reaching out to his people's enemy, the force of his conviction and his love, that not all people need to be vengeful or violent against those who have been the same to them. That reaching out from one side can inspire goodness in the other, that the determination to believe in goodness can produce the same in both yourself and others, because it's true -- the ability for good and for ill lies always within us. ❝ voiceovers Wodensfang ("How to Break a Dragon's Heart"): I had a dream. A foolish dream, a hope that perhaps human beings and dragons could coexist in the world. Valka: You have the heart of a chief and the soul of a dragon. Hiccup: Dragons, they… they are kind, amazing creatures that can bring people together. Hiccup: You are my best friend, bud. Hiccup ("How to Break a Dragon's Heart"): But you HAVE to believe that people and dragons can be better. You HAVE to believe in a better world… Hiccup: Just let me show you. Wodensfang ("How to Break a Dragon's Heart"): Hiccup was the first human to ride upon a dragon's back…. And the more I got to know this Hiccup, the more I saw something special in the human race that we dragons did not have. Love. Imagination. Creativity…. Tell me, was I right to trust a human in this way? Hiccup: Don't worry, bud. I'm not going to let anything happen to you. Valka: Only you can bring our worlds together. Hiccup: You never cease to amaze me, bud. Thank you. ❝ credits score: see end of video footage: HTTYD 1-2, GotNF voice-overs: HTTYD, HTTYD books by Cressida Cowell, read by David Tennant
