inhonoredglory's video: hamlet and ophelia HELLO MY OLD HEART

@hamlet and ophelia ♕ HELLO MY OLD HEART
❝ Doubt thou the stars are fire, doubt that the sun doth move; doubt truth to be a liar, but never doubt I love–– ❞ ★★ Check out my other Hamlet videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1mcRor69YHVFWLfwQfbrgQwOBHk2q89F » reblog on tumblr: http://hamletinblack.tumblr.com/post/148964067011/have-a-fluffy-tragic-hamletophelia-vid-because-of Made this a few weeks ago on a burst of guilty pleasure vidding, so don't judge the fact (LOL) that it doesn't represent more of the harsher side of these guys' relationship – just a FYI for the Shakespeeps who might be watching. ;) It's mostly romantic and tragic (cuz yeah I do believe he loved her). Anyways, Kate Winslet brings such an inherent strength to Ophelia, without sacrificing the tentative fear that made her betray her love and ultimately, reach an unjust end. The other week I was listening to a documentary Branagh did for his theatrical run as Hamlet. It was interesting to hear him talk about having to play the famous "nunnery" scene. He explains how the scene is always very disturbing to play – and you can see the chilling way Hamlet deals with Ophelia in the aftermath of her betrayal. It's horrible and sad because you know how much affection they had shared – his poem of love to her, his holy vows, his admiration of her goodness and his seeing such sinful inadequacy in himself. Her turning her back on him upturned everything he believed about her and about pure things in the world, and added to the ironic tragedy he already harbored about life IMO. But I mostly focused on the warm fuzzies in this vid LOL. I just am in love with Branagh and Winslet's interpretation of the text – that precious shyness and timidity. The way he truly MEANS it when he says "I humbly thank you" to her after asking if she's been praying for his sins. It's sweet and shy and just a perfect way of seeing how important Ophelia is to Hamlet – that her goodness and purity was a rock on which he depended. Anywhos... I've been making Hamlet vids probably because there's none out there to satisfy me and my sis' growing Hamlet needs LOL. And I may or may not have mis-contexted the last quote. Oop. :P ❝ quotes Hamlet: I did love you once (Act III.1.115) Ophelia: You made me believe so (Act III.1.116) Polonius: In few, Ophelia, / Do not believe his vows (Act I.3.126-127) Hamlet: This is I, Hamlet the Dane (Act V.1.259) Hamlet: I loved Ophelia (Act V.1.271) Hamlet: I loved you ever. But it is no matter. (Act V.1.292) ❝ footage William Shakespeare's Hamlet: a film by Kenneth Branagh (1996)
