On February 2, climate defender Dang Dinh Bach (“Bach”) declared a hunger strike from prison in Vietnam. Bach is currently serving a 5-year sentence on trumped-up charges of tax evasion after speaking out against coal. Hoang Thi Minh Hong (“Hong”), is also in prison after helping Vietnam with its just energy transition. The two will spend the Tet Lunar New Year, Vietnam’s most important holiday, away from their families.
