The siphonophore spermatozoa are chemo-attracted by an egg structure called "cupule" located at animal pole; the detached cupule saves the attracting ability. Proteins of the cupule are separated by micro-gel electrophoresis: the portion of the microgel containing the chemo-attracting protein shows local sperm accumulation. Video recorded by C. Sardet & J.
