@South India, Karnataka. Monnuments of Hampi & corale ride at Lake Sanapur
In January-February 2023, after a few years of forced absence due to the covid epidemic, we were finally able to visit our beloved India again. We make an extensive tour through South India; the states of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The trip was organized by our special friend in India, Samar Pradhan (Email: bubu@heritagetoursorissa.com / yugabrat@gmail.com). South India is stunning. Famous for its fabulous UNESCO World Heritage sites, varied cuisines, verdant landscapes and cosmopolitan cities. South India is a rhapsody in green. During this tour you will discover this region's many facets: from the beautiful temples, ancient folk arts with the power to thrill, a surprisingly rich Jewish history, impressive panoramic views of lush hill stations, interactions with locals and of course, the scenic backwaters. In this videoreport we share some images of our visit to Hampi in Karnataka. Hampi is a unique historic city in India. Known for its rich history, it is the remains of an ancient civilization dating back to the 14th century. The city was once the glorious capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, a powerful kingdom that flourished between the 14th and 16th centuries. The ancient city of Hampi is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the abundance of impressive monuments that can still be seen. Among the monuments are the impressive Virupaksha Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is the most iconic symbol of Hampi. The temple stands high above the city and has a beautifully decorated tower. Other prominent monuments include the Vittala Temple, famous for its remarkable stone chariot and beautiful musical pillars. The Hemakuta Hills also offer breathtaking views of the surrounding temples and ruins. You will also discover many impressive remains of palaces, baths, marketplaces and other religious structures scattered across the vast landscape. Hampi is known for its unique architecture, with beautifully carved stones and beautiful sculptures that fascinate visitors. The ancient city of Hampi offers an unforgettable journey back in time and is a must-visit destination for history buffs and anyone interested in ancient Indian culture. After visiting the monuments we make a coracle ride at Sanapur-Lake Hampi. It is a popular and unique experience. The coracle is a small, circular boat made of woven bamboo, covered with a layer of waterproof material like tar or plastic. During the coracle ride, we enjoy the serene beauty of Lake Sanapur and its surroundings while gently gliding on the water. It offers a tranquil escape from the bustling historic sites in the area. The coracle ride at Lake Sanapur provides a leisurely way to explore the natural beauty of the region and is for us a memorable addition to our visit to this UNESCO World Heritage Site. www.TravelByPhoto.nl/Jan-Arend van Boeijen Music part 1: Dragon and Toast van Kevin MacLeod is gelicentieerd onder een Creative Commons Attribution 4.0-licentie. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Bron: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1100251 Artiest: http://incompetech.com/
