'Sitiki Bagori Jaai' & an atom of fire that is Krushnaa Patil (Mountaineer/Dancer). I met Krushnaa in Dec 2011, at INKTalks Jaipur. And i immediately knew - I was facing an indomitable, brave & free willed spirit. At that point in time, she was the youngest Indian woman to have scaled the Everest. I was in complete admiration. There was something the legend Maya Angelou had once said which i hold out as a doctrine - 'Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.' I guess this exemplified Krushnaa. Much as i hate quoting quotes, there is no other way to define Krushnaa and what she is. How does 'PRIDE' find it's way here? Well - i am extremely proud to know her, to know of how she made it. Life isn't easy. hers never was. But what is it that makes life beautiful. The simplest way is to treat your heart with respect & listen to it. The heart leads into the kingdom of Beauty. This is as much a song about Krushnaa as it is about a journey of scaling the impossible. We have our story here. Maybe you find yours too. With we had begun the journey of a lifetime in 2016. I had long envisioned a return to roots, not in the physical sense, but with a sense of soul, of purpose, of art. I wanted not to just bring out the stories & traditions in songs but to craft them into an universal narrative. I am riding those roads now. I am very proud that i come from a land where such diverse things are allowed to bloom. There will be more here. The story continues. This Pride gains in strength.
