Jim Dunne's video: PREVIEW: My Friend of Misery cover

@PREVIEW: My Friend of Misery cover
Here's a little preview (audio only) of an upcoming cover video. I need some help with this one: drums, bass and vocals too. If you're up for the job drop me a line! Find the original high-qualitiy MP3 mix here: http://bittwiddlers.org/ftp/jim/clips/My%20Friend%20Of%20Misery%20premix%203.mp3 Backing tracks with clicks for submissions are found here: http://bittwiddlers.org/ftp/jim/wip/mfom/ Choose the track that excludes the instrument you are submitting your performance for. Submit your performance as one file which must line up with the timing from the click track you choose. Recordings must be in 48kHz, 24-bit. There is one bar of lead-in and then the bass guitar starts its intro riff. This recording session was unique in that I tracked the guitars completely silently. I used the raw output from the Triaxis preamp (with zero dynamic voice setting) and simulated the poweramp/speaker/mic combo with my own cabinet impulse response files ( found here: http://bittwiddlers.org/ftp/jim/impulses/ ). I tracked the guitars with a pair of headphones (Shure SE110) and also used them for mixing. Sorry, but I only used my Sequis Motherlode Elemental power soak / speaker simulator device for monitoring purposes; it did not contribute to the final recorded tone in any way. I would say this process resulted in some excellent tone! Most of the magic is in the post-processing with equalizers, compressors, etc. There are way too many variables involved to communicate in words how to reproduce this tone. I can give you the Triaxis settings and the impulse files that I used and that will get you in the ball park. Main rhythm: LD2 YELLOW, 7.5, 6.5, 2.0, 3.0, 9.0, 9.0, 1.0, 0.0, out B @9 Main lead: LD2 GREEN, 7.5, 7.0, 4.0, 1.0, 7.0, 9.0, 3.0, 0.0, out B @9 Clean: RHY YELLOW, 4.0, 7.0, 5.0, 3.0, 4.0, 4.0, 3.5, out B @9 The "out B @9" indicates that I used the B output of the Triaxis and the volume for that output was set at 9/10 on the dial. I think I may have tweaked these main settings in a few spots in the mix during tracking. I am sure that the main rhythm settings are exactly what is written here. UPDATE (7/1/2010): Screen-shot of my SONAR session with the effects applied to the rhythm guitar tracks open: http://bittwiddlers.org/ftp/jim/pics/MFOM-track-view-rhythm-effects.png LP64 EQ and multi-band compressor settings files: http://bittwiddlers.org/ftp/jim/settings/Cakewalk/ Mix with EZDrummer is out: http://bittwiddlers.org/ftp/jim/clips/mfom8.mp3 I also prepared a "raw" mix which doesn't use the impulse response files to let you hear what the raw Triaxis preamp tone sounds like recorded direct: http://bittwiddlers.org/ftp/jim/clips/mfom-raw.mp3 None of the guitars in that mix were processed. Also, there was no post-processing of any kind in that mix on any track nor on any bus.
