Jim Dunne's video: Mixing live band rehearsal with Reaper and Waves

@Mixing live band rehearsal with Reaper and Waves
Watch in 1080p! This is just a random video showing how I mix our recorded band rehearsals using www.reaper.fm and some Waves plugins. If you want a shot at mixing some of these tracks yourself, see below! There may be a lot of mixing choices made here that seem questionable. That's probably because they are. I'm not a mixing expert and I've never gone through any formal training to be one so I'm entirely self-taught here. I just do what makes sense to me and try to learn from the masters with whatever little tidbits they choose to share freely online. Apologies for the rambling and sometimes incoherent nature of the video. I recorded this live and fully intended to edit certain parts of it but my editing program went bananas and didn't want to work correctly with the source video. Mix it yourself: I've uploaded the raw tracks from our most recent performance of Smashing Pumpkins' Zero. I chose this song from the session because it's short, not too complex, and we performed it fairly well. Try your hand at mixing it yourself! I'd be very interested to see what you can come up with and if you can get it better than mine. http://bittwiddlers.org/ftp/jim/stems/2014/2014-01-19%20Zero%20tracks.zip For reference, here's my mix of the song: http://bittwiddlers.org/ftp/jim/stems/2014/Zero%20mix.flac
