jurassicpunk's video: Terry Reid - Stay With Me Baby 1969

@Terry Reid - "Stay With Me Baby"(1969)
Vocalist and guitarist Terry Reid's killer cover of the soul classic, first recorded by Lorraine Ellison in 1966. Reid's version, from his self-titled second album(released in the US as "Move Over for Terry Reid"), is still my fave, although their the original is brilliant as are some other versions. Such an amazing voice. One of the best of the several young British white males with those raspy, blue eyed soul voices(along with Steve Marriott, early Rod Stewart/Faces, Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, etc). In fact, he was asked to join both Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple as lead vocalist and turned both down. Such an awesome talent. All of his albums, from the late 60s right through to the mid-70s are awesome. But his vocals on this one really show just how powerful, emotional, and just plain awesome his voice is. It kills me every time. He should have been huge. They don't call him "Superlungs" for nothing.
