Speed boat racing is a fun spectator sport in this local community in West Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. These tiny speed boats and their talented drivers were really fast and incredible. This was also a time to say goodbye to the lovely local people before heading back to Sintang and Pontianak. The people were so friendly and hospitality. Thank you! Kalimantan is the Indonesian part of the island of Borneo. It covers 73% of the island's area. The non-Indonesian parts of Borneo are Brunei and East Malaysia or Malaysian Borneo. Malaysian Borneo is divided into the states of Sabah and Sarawak. In Indonesia, ’Kalimantan’ refers to the whole island of Borneo. Borneo is the world’s third largest island, and a place of one millionyear-old rainforests, wetland mangroves, high mountains, white sandy beaches and bustling biodiversity. Borneo is home to some of the planet’s most ancient rainforests. Over half of the rainforest cover on this enormous island has been lost to loggers and farmers over the past decades from 1970s, threatening the endemic flora and fauna as well as the livelihoods of indigenous communities.
