It is a Finnish regional airline . Norra is owned as a joint venture by Finnair, Finland's flag carrier, and Danish Air Transport. Kemi-Tornio Airport (KEM / EFKE) is located 6 kilometers (4 mi) north of the Kemi city center and 18 kilometers (11 mi) east of the Tornio (Torneå) city center. It is located very near the Swedish border. The Kemi-Tornio Airport serves business travellers and tourists heading to Southern Lapland. It is only 125 km (80 mi), about 90 minutes driving, south of the Arctic Circle (Napapiiri), and it is the port to the great wilderness of Europe. Finland’s cities Kemi and Tornio lie in the northernmost shores of the Gulf of Bothnia (Perämeri), in an area known as Sea Lapland (Meri-Lappi). The Tornio city forms a cross-border twin city together with Haparanda (Haaparanta) on the Swedish side. Kemi is Lapland’s main logistics hub. This is made possible by the Port of Kemi (Port of Ajos), an airport, a railway line and major roads from Southern Finland all the way to Northern Norway. The Port of Kemi Is a cargo port and the northernmost general harbor of Finland. Kemi is one of the few places in the world where the sea freezes over and the icebreakers are needed to keep the port operating. Kemi has two important tourist attractions: icebreaker Sampo (jäänmurtaja Sampo) and a year-round snow castle (Kemin lumilinna). Kemi is famous for its icebreaker cruises. The sea is staying frozen nearly half of the year. The mighty Icebreaker Sampo operates on the Gulf of Bothnia right outside the city of Kemi. Icebreaker cruises are offered by two icebreakers during season 2024-2025 in Kemi. The historical and legendary Sampo icebreaker and its little sister, more modern, Arktis. https://visitkemi.fi/en/ Kemi is known as a traditional industrial city and it has a long history of paper and pulp manufacturing. Stora Enso's Veitsiluoto Mill in Kemi closed its paper production in 2021. It was the northernmost paper mill in the world and the fourth largest integrated paper mill in Europe. Veitsiluoto was Europe's largest producer of newsprint in the end of 1960s. Veitsiluoto Sawmill, located in Kemi, produces sawn timber. Metsä Fibre’s new bioproduct mill and paperproduct mill expansion opened its operation in Kemi in 2023. The Kemi bioproduct mill is the most efficient wood processing plant in northern hemisphere. It uses zero fossil fuels and will be completely waste-free by 2030 (Metsä Group). The circular economy and the bioeconomy are strategic development areas for Kemi. The Kemi–Tornio region is important for industrial refinement and exports. Companies in the region have been exchanging materials in a manner consistent with circular economic thinking for decades. The Kemi–Tornio industrial symbiosis involves companies exchanging industrial by-products (waste) with other companies that can use them as a substitute for raw materials. The collaboration includes actors from forestry, mining and steel industry companies, industrial service companies, research and educational organisations and intermediaries.  Helsinki Airport or Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL / EFHK, Helsinki-Vantaan lentoasema) is the main international airport of the city of Helsinki, its surrounding metropolitan area, and the Uusimaa region in Finland. The airport is located in the neighbouring city of Vantaa, and 17.0 km (10.6 mi) north of Helsinki's city center. The airport is the main hub for Finnair, the flag carrier of Finland, and its subsidiary Nordic Regional Airlines. About 90% of Finland's international air traffic passes through Helsinki Airport. HSL’s (Helsinki Region Transport) ticket gets you from Helsinki Airport to the Helsinki city center by train in just 30 minutes. The train station is directly under the Helsinki Airport terminal. Public transport is a great way to get around the Helsinki metropolitan area. Use the same public transport ticket to travel by tram, bus, metro, commuter train, light rail and the Suomenlinna ferry. Single and day tickets are available from the mobile HSL app, ticket machines and sales points.
