@Haunting History of : Brook Forest Inn, Brook Forest Rd, Evergreen,Colorado, United States
A post office called Evergreen has been in operation since 1876. The community was named for evergreen trees near the original town site. The Historic Brook Forest Inn has roots dating back to 1909.Over 100 years of history and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties in recognition of this property’s contribution to the heritage of the State of Colorado. The top floor is home to two ghosts, one is Jessica, a chambermaid who was killed by her stable-hand lover, and the stable hand himself, who committed suicide after committing the horrible deed. The two, who were obviously not at peace when they died, are known to still roam the hallways on the 3rd floor. Many of the staff have reported feeling very cold when going up the stairs to this floor. Workers say that they have felt chilling presences when in the hallway, as if someone is following them down corridors.A little boy ghost lives on the third floor and he can be heard running through the hallways late at night. Cold breezes have been felt while going up the stairway to the third floor. The forest that surrounds the inn is also said to be infested with ghosts of Native Americans.Neighbours and people outside of the Inn have also reported seeing figures move around on the 2nd and 3rd floors when no one would be occupying those areas. Another ghost legend of the Brook Forest Inn is that of a specter of a little boy. It is said that the child was once a guest in the hotel who was murdered by his father. It is said at late hours of the night, in empty rooms and corridors, crying and weeping from a child can be heard. Others have said they have seen a child running around the Inn, hiding behind corners. When the staff goes to check behind the corner they will of course find nothing there. Others have reported random knocks on their doors throughout the night with no one outside them. One couple who was staying at the Inn saw a small silent child standing outside of their door in the morning. When the couple went downstairs for breakfast and asked the owner whose child it was, the owner stated that there was no one else staying at the hotel at the time... “We were awakened in the middle of the night by what sounded liked a child running down the hall very fast”, Larry Hotz, All Denver Real Estate Executive Editor said. “It was 3:30 am and I went to the door to see what happened. No one was there. When we mentioned it at breakfast in the morning, the proprietor told us the story. He said it happens all the time.” One morning when the Inn’s only guests were leaving their room to come down for breakfast – they were confronted by a man that was very pale, who said nothing, but stood in their way. When the guests finally came down – and reported the rude stranger – the Inn manager reported that no one else was in the building. Later that evening when the guests visited the Brook Sports bar downstairs – they recognized the stranger in a picture hung by the bar. Ironically though – the person in the picture was a previous employee of the Inn and had been dead for several years. There are also tales about the Ute Indians, who may have used the land as ceremonial grounds; the outlaw Jesse James, who is said to have buried loot nearby; and Nazis who once gathered at the hotel before America entered World War II. But one of the oddest things about the inn is it’s composition. Its walls are made of white and rose-colored quartz boulders, ripped from a nearby quarry. Atencio-Church claims this crystalline rock conducts unseen energies: “We’ve become some kind of portal.”The spirits do seem to be friendly and playful. http://www.denverpost.com https://www.larryhotz.com http://backpackerverse.com http://www.cohauntedhouses.com/ Photo art by H.H All other Photos From Google Map Photo 2 by Kent Kanouse, via Flickr Photo 3 by by Jeffrey Beall, via Flickr Photo 6 Photo 4 byChrista Burns, via Flickr Photo 7 by /paranormalinvestigationsspook Photo 8 by spookparanormal Wichita, Kansas Photo 9 from www.bedandbreakfast.com Photo 10 by Kim F.
