lO Davis's video: Ghost Story of London Plague Pits

@Ghost Story of London Plague Pits
https://www.facebook.com/historyhaunted/ Overcrowded, dirty and awash with sewage… it’s hardly surprising that the bubonic plague flourished in the crowded streets of London. Over 15% of London’s population was wiped out between 1665 and 1666 alone, or some 100,000 people in the space of two years. But where did all these bodies go? The answer: in tens, if not hundreds of plague pits scattered across the city and the surrounding countryside. The majority of these sites were originally in the grounds of churches, but as the body count grew and the graveyards became overcharged with dead, then dedicated pits were hastily constructed around the fields surrounding London. ......................................................................................... A family home in South London was the scene of a curious haunting in the late 1970s which brought a swift police response. Awakened by noises in the night, the family were shocked to see a procession of figures in period costume with sad expressions passing through the house, many of them holding bundles. They family fled their home and called the police. Thinking that they were going to be able to apprehend burglars, police arrived at the scene very quickly and a young police constable entered the property. He emerged very shaken, having seen the same figures himself. Attempts were then made to send in a police dog, but the dog refused and bit its handler. Officers then entered the property in force and the family returned to find it empty. Investigation by sympathetic clergy revealed that the family had suffered a cot death three weeks before and that the house stood on the site of a plague pit. Specialists in exorcism and deliverance ministry believed that the modern tragedy had activated ancient memories stored at the site; but unfortunately the records of this interesting case have been lost.
