WILD FANTASY / ESTHER PHILLIPS / DELEGATION / THE CLONES / ETIENNE DE CRÉCY After a long pause (for many reasons that I can't go into) I am uploading this new episode of AOS. The 75 episodes behind me consisted of the majority of the records I have in my collection. I am still buying new and old records every month, so that I can possibly upload more stuff. I was in one of the last used records shop in Montreal two weeks ago. While searching in the 'crap' section (records that apparently no one want to buy), I found a copy of an album by THE CLONES, from 2003/2004. The Clones are a French duo, and they only released one album ('Safety Copy'). I bought it for only 2 dollars (yes, only 2$) and went home. I then decided to reconstruct the sampling of some of the tracks. The Clones are not very well known out there, and their opus was not very well promoted in Canada (where it was released), So this was another reason for me to do it. The first track was the most popular single from them 'Shut Up And Dance': it contains a sample of 'Gypsy Lady' by Wild Fantasy. The second one is 'Organic Tones' which includes a sample of 'Home Is Where The Hatred Is', a song originally written by Gil Scott Heron. 'Organic Tones' also includes a filtered sample of 'Put A Little Love On Me' by Delegation (credited on sleeve, but unrecognizable). Some of the songs of Esther Phillips were also sampled by Etienne De Crécy for his album 'Tempovision'. Here I use the remixed versions of the 'Tempovision' album: the remixed and edited version of 'Tempovision' and the Jamie Lewis remix of 'Hold The Line'. In the case of 'Tempovision', the sample of Esther Phillips is taken from the left stereo and then re-pasted on both channels. The track also includes a sample from 'From A Whisper To A Scream', but I do not recognize it. If you know, feel free to explain in the comments section.
