I’ve been working on this video for months with the intention of posting it when I came out to my parents. Working on it was part of my journey to get to that point. I've trying to upload at least 20 versions of this video in the last week and it all keeps getting blocked due to copyright issues. I can't believe that in all these months, I never once thought of checking the copyright on the original song (Stand in the light by Jordan Smith), aaaaagggghhhr! I've uploaded a muted version but I was so sad that I couldn't really share it on youtube that I've made a new, instrumental version with another song. I've also had to delete the intro because somehow that scene was also blocked worldwide (like seriously???) There are quite some multifandom coming out related videos out there and each one of them has been so helpfull to me. But I noticed that many of them are pretty sad and focus on a lot of tragic stories. I know very well that these stories unfortunatley are still very real in 2018. I realise I’m a very lucky person and I couldn’t wish for a better reaction from my friends and family. I appreciate my loved ones so much more for that and it brought me a lot closer to many of them. So yes, there are a lot of tragic things that still happen to LGBTQ+ around the world, but the world is also changing. I wanted to share a message of hope and hapiness. With this music, the message comes over a lot less euphoric and a little more tragic/dramatic. So if you want more of a feel good video, go check out the original. There’s such joy to be found in being part of such a beautiful and strong community. Coming out is the most liberating feeling I could ever imagine.
