De orixe eremítica cristianizouse e estableceuse nel a vida monástica. Dise que pode ser o único templo de orixe sueva da Península. Nós quixemos poñerlle música ao fascinante lugar con tres cantigas do Rei Afonso X, a 159 “Non sofre Santa María”, a 1 ”Des oge mais quer' eu trobar" e a 23 "Como Deus fez vynno d'agua".
