How to make nice custom YouTube thumbnails with Adobe Illustrator CS6! You have to be a YouTube partner to upload your own Thumbnails. Were using screen shoots from the video, and illustrators type, stroke and clipping mask features and tools. By saving the thumbnail AI file with different layers, we have a nice template wich you can reuse for a nice constant layout and branding = ) The same techniques should also work with photoshop, but are a bit easier to do with Illustrator! Make sure to create your thumbnails in 1280x720 HD aspect ratio to avoid cropping. Also save them in a web based format like PNG to reduce the file size.
