lyannas's video: Stevie Nicks - Mabel Normand

@Stevie Nicks - Mabel Normand
Originally written and recorded in 1985, this is the officially released track of, "Mabel Normand," from Stevie's recently released album, "24 Karat Gold: Songs From The Vault". According to a recent interview with Stevie (OUT magazine), this song was written after she saw a TV special on 1920's starlet, Mabel Normand. Stevie identified very much with the silent film star, and explained that she also hoped to get the message across of how harmful drugs are. This song has been praised by the Boston Globe as a, "serpentine, “Rhiannon”-like groove." “In 1985, I was dancing at the edge of danger myself, just like she was,” Nicks says. “I was just doing so much coke. And it had already backfired on me completely. I saw this documentary, and I felt this union with her: Oh my God, the same thing that happened to this woman in the ’20s is happening to me in the ’80s — how can this be? Then she died, and that really scared me. She was rich, she was famous, she had everything. She had it all. And I very well could have died just as easily as she did.” (OUT Magazine.) Natural in her beauty I guess you could say She’s just an unapproachable comedienne Having much faith in her talent She did her work, no comedienne Has not been the clown She did her work But her heart was quietly crying I guess she even felt guilty About even dying Sad Mabel Normand So my friend is continuing On a destructive road His life passes before him Like an unfortunate circumstance He and his friend are at odds And he is not winning Why does someone always have to win He says it matters Strange things do follow When you love someone So you put that someone in exile How ’bout I call you “Beloved Exile” He called today He says…"Don’t give up” I ask him, “What are you talking about” I said, things are not the same Since you’ve been gone Rome burned down And still all the same So I moved away from the house that held Nothing but waiting for messages And all through the days seasons I went running with the sun And I pray every day for the answers In a still, and almost silent night He began to hide his beauty And I learned to say the words Well, just whose side are you on, anyway Change sides (Change sides...) What does it matter Still you change sides (Change sides...) Every other day, you just change sides So continue on your destructive road Ooh, your life passes before me Like an unknown circumstance You and your friend are at odds And you are not winning Why does someone always have to win And all those races that are run They cause patterns... Strange things do follow When you love someone So you put that someone in exile And you say, I’ll write a book about it And call it, “Beloved Exile” Well, her life was a gas Simply everything that happened Well, the old lady said, yes it was sad She fought a losing battle One day at a time She might even make it through tomorrow Maybe even in another show Natural in her beauty I guess you could say She was just unapproachable Baby comedienne... So beautiful...So beautiful... She fought a losing battle She might even make it through tomorrow So beautiful ...So beautiful... Sad Mabel Normand Sad girl... Sad girl... So beautiful...
