Franz Liszt's Réminiscences de la Juive - Fantaisie brillante sur des motifs de l'opéra de Halévy, S. 409a, performed by Stephen Hough. This performance from Hough's very recent French album makes a good couple with his Spanish Rhapsody I uploaded earlier: these two fantasies most probably grew out from improvisations and, being very well aware of that, Hough took lots of liberties from the written score, including some tasteful cutting, weaving, sewing and, of course, original improvisation ala Liszt. (Which are, on the one hand, delightful, but on the other hand they didn't make my job much easier, I can tell!)
