Sometimes the best distraction comes in the form of hair extensions and a close up. Jodie had a marvelous time during her wish: a head-to-toe makeover complete with a full photo shoot afterward. With her rare disease taking over most of her life, Jodie was never able to fulfill her modelling dreams. Jodie was treated to an exclusive makeover at Macy’s, after which she got to pick out her own outfits for her photo shoot. Stepping onto the beautiful beach and standing tall, Jodie was ready to take on the world. With every flick of the camera, Jodie’s eyes sparkled. Everyone could see how thrilling this experience was for Jodie and her family. For Jodie, it was important to have her photo shoot all dolled up to the nines; it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to not think about the effects that her illness is having on her body, but to be completely immersed in the photo shoot. “It was like she was in a different world…” as Jodie’s mother said, “She’s never done anything like that before.” Her wish experience wasn’t only a special day, but made Jodie feel special, as well. Overwhelmed with emotion, Jodie and her mother were so grateful for this unique opportunity and the way her day “makes such a difference” in her life now, and not only for Jodie, but for her family, as well. In a way, her makeover and photo shoot was the start of a new outlook on life. Looking back at those professional pictures, Jodie has the life-long reminder of her outer and inner beauty that her family and friends continue to see every day.
