Since his use of a wheelchair limits how mobile he’d like to be, 19-year-old Reese wished to have a customized golf cart that will enable him to drive himself throughout his neighborhood. Battling numerous bone tumors that have required multiple surgeries, this is just the motivation that Reese needs to continue his fight. On his wish day, Reese and his family were guests at the headquarters of Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company, his wish sponsor. His mother said, “It’s so exciting. He has wanted this for so long. It will give him so much joy and freedom to go out with his friends. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. It is a blessing.” His red and black golf cart was custom-made with Reese in mind, and decorated with balloons and banners for its debut. There’s a ramp for easy access, an extended cab to accommodate his wheelchair, and controls on the steering wheel to operate the vehicle. Reese was thrilled to take his first ride with his new wheels, a spin in the Joffrey’s parking lot after the presentation. Reese said, “It’s pretty amazing that this happened. I honestly didn’t think it would with COVID. It’s amazing to be able to drive it with my hands.” He’s busy planning the many outings he will take in his new handicap accessible golf cart including to the park with his dog and anywhere his little sister wants to go with him.
