Recorded live at 'The King's Head' Fulham, London. Autumn 1997. 'Don't let the BANG-BANG scare you away . . .' Blimey. 20 years ago. Already. I did some great promo that year with Anglo-Aussie pop combo 'Om'. Lead by ex-actor Tom Jennings (best known for his role as 'Slake' in 'Mad Max - Beyond The Thunderdome'), with lovely lads Richie Cirillo on guitar, Andy 'The Source' Byrnes on (phenomenal) drums - his last gig with 'Om', BTW, he headed back to Oz after this - and Mike Hartnett on Bass. Just found this Hi-8 tape I shot at one of their last performances. No edits, and (surprisingly good) cam-mic audio. Being jostled while shooting by an over-enthusiastic crowd. Amateurish recording, granted - but very 'in-the-moment'. They were really cooking that year, but couldn't get a sniff of the barmaid's apron. They deserved better, but - as I was pointing out to my eldest daughter recently - some of the best music I've EVER heard never made it to vinyl . . .
