martyn castens's video: Backpacking Thailand Vlog - Adventures in Bangkok

@Backpacking Thailand Vlog - Adventures in Bangkok
Thailand Travel Vlog - Backpacking in Thailand is slowly coming to an end, but we still have some time left :) So today we set out to explore some temples and attractions here in Bangkok. Some of the main things to see in Bangkok are the reclining buddha also know as Wat Pho and the Grand Palace. So despite a long previous taste of Bangkok nightlife (I did start the day feeling a bit sick) we set out to explore those two Bangkok highlights (more info on them below). After dodging the swarms of people throughout the day it was time to head back to our home currently on khao san road, and get some food, well maybe a banana shake and then some food :) It's our last night here so despite the lack of sleep we ventured out for one last night of partying Bangkok style. The city here definitely has a different vibe and pace than the Thai islands we were just on. In my opinion I prefer the island vibe, but when in Rome :) -------------------------- Wat Pho - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wat_Pho Wat Pho is one of Bangkok's oldest temples. It existed before Bangkok was established as the capital by King Rama I. It was originally named Wat Photaram or Podharam, from which the name Wat Pho is derived. The name refers the monastery of the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India where Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment.[6][10] The older temple is thought to have been built or expanded some time in the reign of King Phetracha (1688–1703) of the Ayuthaya period on an even earlier temple site, but its founder is unknown.[6][11] After the fall of Ayutthaya to the Burmese, King Taksin moved the capital to Thonburi where he located his palace beside Wat Arun on the opposite side of the river from Wat Pho, and the proximity of Wat Pho to this royal palace elevated it to the status of a wat luang (royal monastery). Grand Palace - http://www.tourismthailand.org/Attraction/The-Grand-Palace--52 Entrance fee: 500 Baht Operating time : 08.30 - 15.30 Music by Joakim Karud - https://soundcloud.com/joakimkarud -------------------------- How to Vlog? This is the question I asked myself as I started out the new year. I am always looking to be more creative and I decided that this year will be the year that I start a daily vlog. So sitback and step into my daily life. Vlogging is totally new to me, but I hope to bring you on all my travels, adventures and all around exploring. A little bit about myself: I live in San Diego and love all things creative. I am a webmaster for work but do all sorts of things including design, photography and anything that involves using my hands or creativity. My wife and I are avid rock climbers and love go to on adventures in our 88 Vanagon. We traveled to last year all around Mexico, China, Bali, Hawaii and throughout California and Neveda. I am hoping that 2016 will bring more excitement and more travels, so be sure to subscribe :) -------------------------- I use a Canon 70d combined with a Canon G7X for all my Vlogs.
