Chata Gutierrez was a San Francisco radio DJ for almost 40 years on KPOO-FM. She played Salsa and Latin Jazz and like her female contemporary, Avotja, was one of the few women or people of color on radio. After she passed away in 2011, Carlos Kookie Gonzales, was commissioned by Gil and Oli to do a poster for her memorial. He has galvanized the Mission District community with this striking mural which has become a political statement about the gentrification destroying the exact neighborhoods and community that made San Francisco such a unique place in the US.
