nathnullobject's video: RCA 70-X exact model unknown 16 inch turntable part 3

@RCA 70-X (exact model unknown) 16 inch turntable part 3
This is the bearing assembly of an early RCA transcription turntable. I have found the exact patent online for this bearing design but it does not specify the exact model. It is from 1938. The RCA -70D uses a refined version of this bearing but the concept is the same. Originally the lower flywheel was spun at 78rpm and a switch on the actual platter would engage a planetary gear to slow the platter to 33rpm. The large 5 ball bearing makes up the majority of the planetary gearbox with a special bearing cage attached to the underside of the platter acts as the planet gear. I have replaced the original thrust bearing with a disk of teflon. This shows the 2nd bearing housing that is used when the planetary gear is engaged for 33rpm. At the bottom is a teflon thrust disc. It is like a compact disc but even more compact, storing only one John Denver song at a time. It is hard to explain so just go watch some thug life videos and leave the 78 year old record player technology to idiots like me.
