niallon's video: Whatever You Want Status Quo - Cover

Thanks to for the request…I think! OK, look, I don’t hate Status Quo but man I really used to. When I was learning guitar some of the more…snobbish…guitarists you’d find yourself around really looked down on Status Quo. “They just rewrite the same 12 bar boogie rock song every time”. That’s a near verbatim quote I’d head at one point in my teens. Thing is, aside from knowing “Rockin’ All Over The World” and this track simply from a pop culture stance, I never actually even listened to them. The opinion seemed to be so unanimous that they were awful, your parent’s music, and so I just decided they were useless. In a move that will shock none, I was quite wrong. Whilst they certainly have their own niche, Status Quo really are taken a little too lightly by some, namely yours truly. Recording this song was nearly a nightmare. I spent two weeks recording a near like for like version of the original and there are so many intricacies to it it near drove me mad. Then it came time to record the vocals and…well this is why you rehearse kids. Honestly, it was a simple and utter “f**k it” approach led to me picking up the acoustic and knocking out this version which I ended up really liking. So I take it back Quo, I had you guys all wrong.
