niallon's video: Knockin On Heaven s Door Bob Dylan - Cover

@Knockin' On Heaven's Door (Bob Dylan - Cover)
I know I said I was gonna get back to uploading original songs on Fridays, but the events that have unfolded in the US over the last few weeks have put a stop to that (I'll be honest, two weeks is easily a better production time for my stuff too because I'm overly pedantic about my own songs so most likely that'll stick). This song has been racing around my head since I first heard about the murder of George Floyd. Now I'm not going to go hopping on a bandwagon, anyone that knows me knows that the chances of me getting off my ass and taking action for a cause are very slim, but that doesn't mean I and all of you can't have a voice in this. The human race has been well and truly humbled in 2020, never before have we been so starkly reminded that we are all ultimately in a battle for survival together. There just shouldn't be any room for this injustice in the world we presently live in, not that there ever should have been in the first place. I see a lot of people saying "Why do we care what happens in America?". It's nothing to do with what happens in America, it's to do with what happens here. What happens in essentially every country in the world. It's not just the black community, it's anyone who doesn't fit the conventions of what is "normal", what is "correct". And I'll hear some people say "Oh I know such and such a person and they were charged with this and that. And they're black". They also know the same if not more persons of a similar ilk who aren't. They just don't care half as much. Or maybe it's not the same because those other people, well they had harsh upbringings and other nonsense excuses. For those outside of the aforementioned "normal", well it doesn't matter - their race, religion, sexuality or whatever the hell else they want to use to label them is reason enough for how they are it seems sometimes. I also need to challenge the rhetoric of "Black Lives Matter? ALL Lives Matter!". Nobody ever said they don't. Literally nobody. The orange faced pompadoured man child in the White House likes to remind us that All Lives Matter too. So I'll try explain this in language he and others like him might understand - If you can't grasp the meaning behind Black Lives Matter, let me try and get the point across like this - your life doesn’t matter more. We are part of the human race, not the human race and friends. Across all walks of life, within every race, religion, gender etc there are some awful people. But to say that you can take that information and reverse engineer it to say all persons of a certain race, religion, gender etc are awful? That's the most fake news there is.
