Giving some insight on what it's like working at M.A.C Cosmetics. as a freelancer. (My experience anyway...) Overall, if you're a natural hustler and are good with fast pace environments, you will thrive. The ability to multi-task is an absolute MUST. It is not all sugar and sprinkles while floating around with magical brushes which paint faces to the gawds::: The reality it is STILL a retail job, so if you aren't okay with that, as retail includes various shifts, call-outs, and plenty of running around- you may want to look elsewhere. I chose M.A.C. due to the opportunity of possibilities, not just to paint faces. The best advice I can give if you are a freelancer whose goal is to become permanent is 1- be available and 2-make yourself USEFUL. You become an ASSET when you are showing the managers and other permanent artists that they would benefit from having you on their team ALL THE TIME, versus another artist who is just there doing the bare minimum to get some hours. When you show that you WANT to work, they'll give you work AND preference.
