Marie Shepherd, born in 1929, served in the United States Air Force 1951-1955 primarily at Lackland Air Force Base. She talks about her childhood and her decision to volunteer for military service during the Korean War. She describes her training and her responsibilities as one of the only females. Shepherd also discusses the time she spent assisting burn victims when they returned stateside. She explains her career after the military and her education under the GI Bill. She comments on her family and the impact her military service has had on her life. This interview was conducted as part of the Armed Forces in Oklahoma Series of the Spotlighting Oklahoma Oral History Project at the OSU Library.
