The beginning of a 4-day solo walkabout in the mountains of northern Utah. Survival gear was limited to 10 basic items, and food rations consisted of 6 oz per day of dry goods. See my Great Basin series for more thoughts on the purpose and elements of my walkabouts. The night before this trip my dad announced he had terminal cancer. I spent the next 4 days thinking of him and how much I'll miss him. It was the most memorable and life-changing walkabout of my life.
