"Music and the Spoken Word" received a special honor Saturday night: It was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame. The program, which features the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, started in 1929 and is now the longest-running radio broadcast in the United States. Saturday night's honor was accepted by Mack Wilberg, conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. "This is especially significant for us, not only because of the very talented individuals who were also nominated with us in the National-Pioneer category, but also because the selection was determined by a vote of the American listening public," Wilberg said in a press release prior to accepting the award.
