Ruukinranta (Swedish: Bruksstranden) is a neighborhood in eastern Espoo by Laajalahti bay. Located "behind" the highway 1 and Ring I main roads, the area is pretty much isolated from occasional traffic. Named after a brick factory, the area has been since that a place for private houses and villas: Many of the still existing old buildings have been protected with the city plan. The most famous villa in the area is the jugend-style Villa Elfvik. There have been several famous Finnish artists living in the area, like sculptor Ville Vallgren and his wife Viivi Paarmio-Vallgren. Tarmac was laid on the street named after him, Ville Vallgrenin tie, in summer 2020, making the area accessible with skates, too: together with Ruukinrannantie the street forms a nice loop that can be skated through.
