@Rape Attempt in Brooklyn Captured on Video - brightened version by pinvj
I saw this upsetting video on the news and decided to locate it and brighten it for better detail and upload it onto youtube. I saw on TV that the police believe there is a name on the back of the man's jacket, but I was not able to enhance it enough to sharpen out that name, as I am not a miracle worker. This video is much brighter than the original, so it takes the details out of the Christmas lights and increases details in the street. I hope this sicko is caught and torn a new one in jail. This is not the entire video, but is the main part. The rest of the video is the camera owner chasing the rapist and then interacting with the victim. http://www.wpix.com/news/local/wpix-man-viciously-attacks-woman-in-park-slope-video-20110422,0,6109522.story "Cops Ignored Man With Video Of Apparent Park Slope Rape Attempt" "PARK SLOPE (PIX11) -- What appears to have been a violent, attempted rape on a Park Slope sidewalk last month was caught by a home surveillance camera -- and so were the NYPD officers who left neighbors in disbelief by refusing to even look at the footage. In the video a man can be seen grabbing a young woman from behind and putting her into a choke hold as she screams and struggles to free herself. "Stay away from me! Help, help!" the woman screams. The man can then be seen trying to rip down her pants and cover her mouth at the same time. Neighbor Donald Harrington, who ran outside to help the victim, said, "My head was out the window, so I got up and jumped and I saw two people scuffling, screaming, and the girl was in trouble. The woman managed to break free as a concerned neighbor ran out to confront her attacker. The predator can be seen pulling up his pants and nonchalantly walking away. "This was caught by accident, it was set up for a whole different purpose, not for this, this is the furthest thing from my mind," said the building's owner, who did not want to be identified. Minutes after the attack occurred, neighbors were shocked by what happened when NYPD officers arrived at the scene. "When police came that night they said there was no complaining witness, they did not want to take the information down that (the neighbor) had the videotape," Harrington said. On surveillance footage a man can be heard saying, "I got the videotape, I got the videotape," as police drive away. The incident, which occurred Mar. 20, was not fully investigated at the time because no victim came forward, according to the police. After the video was leaked to the press, the victim did come forward and an investigation by the Special Victims Unit is now ongoing, according to the NYPD. In a statement, Detective Cheryl Crispin said, "Police should have taken possession of the tape sooner." "Now something is being done, maybe it will prevent further incidents," said neighbor Bo Samajopoulas, "I can't believe police would refuse to do anything the night of the incident, they could have done something.""
