"제주로 내려와 지내." 언니의 제안에 이번 겨울을 이곳에서 보내기로 결정했고, 오늘이 그 첫날입니다. 서로 안부를 나누며 밥을 다 먹어갈 즈음, 문득 언니는 볼일이 있으니 잠시 나갔다 오겠다네요. 한 시간 동안 홀로 책방을 맡기로 했습니다. 음악을 틀어놓고 커피를 내린 뒤에 평소 읽고 싶던 책을 하나 꺼내듭니다. 밖에는 다소 차가운 바람이 불어서 그런지 고양이는 난로 주변에 앉아 꾸벅꾸벅 졸고 있네요. 그 장면을 가만히 바라보고 있자니, 이만하면 한 달 제주살이의 시작으로 충분한 것 같습니다.
