On Saturday, October 20, 2018, Gwinnett County (GA) Police Officer Antwan Toney was shot and killed as he and another officer investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle. On Saturday, November 3, 2018, Officer Toney came home to Los Angeles for his final resting place. At the memorial service the song, "I'll Fly Away" was performed. The choir of the City of Refuge Church in Gardena presented this hymn. The song was inspirational and a true celebration of a life lived with purpose and meaning.
