One of my favorite things about the Marantz PMD 221 cassette recorder is that it can monitor what's being recorded to the tape in real time. Essentially, it turns the cassette tape into an effect. Here is a little jam with the Teenage Engineering OP-Z running through the Marantz PMD 221. The cassette I'm using is a cassette loop that is about to fall apart. This introduces interesting warbles and dropouts. I'm running the PMD 221 through the Oto Machines Bam to add a little stereo width, since the 221 is mono.
